May 2018 Update

Dear Friends & Family,

We have successfully made it into our second home in Saint-Jérôme, Québec!!  Thank you for your prayers and thoughts as we made the transition.  Packing and moving ten minutes away wasn’t nearly as tedious of a task as moving 10 days away.  Still, the actual moving days proved to be more difficult with a toddler, as one of the two of us were “detained”.  We had Andréa’s aunt and another lady help with all of the cleaning in the new place and then had 6 men throughout the first day helping with all of the large items.  It was many trips back and forth but we are settled and working on making the place our own.

A highlight of this last month was that of Jason joining the youth group in serving the Uashat in Sept-Iles, Québec.  This was a five-day trip in which the youth played with the kids and served the church on the reservation.  It was great for him to observe our youth serving in hands-on ways and vocalizing their testimony.  It’s a very beautiful location on the coast and it was nice for Jason to see big amounts of water, again.  Our church and another church joined together to serve (inter-denominational); which allowed for many hours together in a bus of connecting and building relationships.  Jason enjoyed the bonfire on the beach with an attempted fishing time (but no fish showed up) and the killing, de-feathering and roasting of a goose.  Seeing them worship in their tribal language was a special experience.

For those that are interested, one of the exciting things taking place to help in spreading the Gospel in Québec is a 24/7 prayer movement.  We have personally seen this taking place in other countries and we are excited that it is in fruition here in Québec!! You can learn more about the movement at: aebeq.qc.ca/247.  Each intercessory prayer person commits to 1 minute per day, 1 hour per week, 1 bloc of time per month, and then 1 day per year of prayer/fasting.  It is so encouraging to know that this province is slowly being covered in prayer on a 24/7 basis!!  This is just one of the many new exciting things happening to further the Gospel in this province.

One other quick highlight was that Andréa's sister, brother-in-law and "new" baby came to visit.  Six months after her birth, we all got the privilege of meeting the newest member of the family!  The two cousins are 9 months apart and will definitely grow up to be fast friends.  It was beautiful spending time all together and enjoying this new season of being parents together.

Here are some prayer needs for this next month:

  • Camp des Bouleaux: all three of us will be at the children’s camp this year! Please pray for us as we lead in our roles and that children’s’ lives will be changed.
  • Continue to pray that documentation for Jason’s temporary visa will come through, along with our child benefit stipend, and that we will be diligent in the residency application process.
  • Andréa is off the steroid and we are waiting for the 3 infusions (to date) to start making a noticeable difference. She hopes to have minimal symptoms at camp.

Thank you, so much, for your support in our lives and, more importantly, the Gospel being spread in Québec.

For His Glory,
Jason, Andréa & Lydia Maul
