Six Years Ago

This Saturday, will mark SIX years from the day that I married my best friend.  My how time passes and how we change!  We aren't nearly the same people we were six years ago.  And then, just think, what will happen in six more years and then thirty-six years from now...

In the last six years, we have grown together. We have bought a house together. We have gotten a cat and then a dog together. We have finished our master's and bachelor's degrees. We have ran a half-marathon together. We have driven across the United States and back.  We have taken trips apart and we have taken trips together.  We have built a fence around our yard.  We have watched many Seahawk's games. We have surfed, hiked, biked, rock-climbed, and played soccer together. We have renovated our house.  We have dreamed. We have disagreed. We have made good decisions and we have made mistakes.  We have been close to family and have been far from family. We have gone though Ulcerative Colitis, a sigmoidoscopy, a colonoscopy, and many things that we would rather not share.  We have loved, we have been frustrated, we have cried, and we have cheered.  We have struggled with income and money.  Other times, we have been blessed with money to give to others.  We have gone through not being able to go out to restaurants on a date.  We have served in ministry together. We have struggled with family and friends.  We have had amazing memories with family and friends.  We have smiled, laughed, been silly, and played jokes. We have grown in our faith.  We have grown together.
We have changed individually and together since December 20, 2008.  All of these moments in life have changed us, for better or for worse.  How true it is that we didn't say "I do" because we wanted the other to stay exactly the same, based-off of that specific moment in time.  That's simply impossible.  We did say "I do" because we chose to love.  And true love chooses to stay in love.

Thank you, Captain America, for changing with me but always choosing to love me just the same.
