Living in a home that was built in the 1920s has its own fair share of, let's say, "quirks"....one example would be that our only hallway comes together at the end...making the door frames touch each other!
Another item of interest (the opposite side of the hallway) is a very old fire alarm 'system'...
Well, my little piece of 'happy' for today was doing a quick clean of the vent that is in this hallway. For whatever reason, there is caulking around the whole vent, so I decided against the idea of just taking it off and spraying it down, outside. The pictures don't really do it justice of showing how dirty it was...there is a lot of foot traffic (both two-legged and four-legged) through that hallway.
Of course, Amos plopped-down right away to supervise what I was doing. You will notice, later, that he decided that the smell of the cleaner was too much for him...Here is the vent before...
I used a knife, a clean towel, and whatever cleaning product I had on hand...the knife went inside the towel, the knife/towel combo was repeatedly dipped into the cleaner, and then I was able to go back and forth between each slot. In the bottom picture, the column on the left had just been cleaned and the two on the right were still dirty.
The whole 'project' took a total of 15 minutes...now, why hadn't I done this before? Here is what it looks like now...
Easy!! Now, we will just have to wait and see how long it takes for me to clean the vent again...
